CHEAHDX lives for the underground… If you’ve been in Naarm recently, no doubt you’ve seen him on a dance floor carrying the energy of the crowd, be it in front of or behind the decks. Darren is of Malaysian-Chinese descent, but was Boorloo-born and raised; having recently made the move to the east coast, where he has immersed himself within the rich underground scene. With a special talent for production, CHEAHDX seems to defy genre in his sound. His style is influenced by leftfield bass, DnB, dubstep, breaks and more; his sonic signature is distinct in every track… With breakout releases on Lovejoy and Antidote World Records, a self-released collection of unconventional club edits, and a much anticipated EP, forthcoming on Andy Garvey’s label, Purespace. 2025 will be an exciting year for releases from Darren, with many other scheduled releases and the recent launch of his own label Serendipity… Having played the likes of Lovejoy, BAZE, Club Web, Daybreak, Miscellanea’s Mutations + Mezzanine parties, as well as being an ‘unofficial’ resident at Solace bar… CHEAHDX is truly a trailblazer, shunning convention in his genre-fluid sets which much like his production, keep things unconventionally left-field, all the while maintaining a level of rhythmic excitement and nostalgia-fuelled energy. Darren is also a core member of party group and collective STEP COUNT which has also made its recent move from Boorloo to Naarm with a standout first party at Solace in collaboration with Purespace.
